It's That Time Again

Time for updates!

-The 2016-17 school year is off to an interesting start. Teaching a new class on study skills. So far so good. Crazy schedule, but I have time to go to the restroom. #winning

-New allergy doctor. He is AMAZING. Is on my top 5 lists of awesome doctors. Took the time to listen to me. Respected my research and my medical records. Unfortunately my allergy tests came back that I am literally allergic to EVERYTHING. He thinks he can help me and I believe him.

-My Coda turned 11 this week! She's still acting like a puppy, but she is slowing down. I can't imagine my life without her. Totally grateful to my ex for bringing her into my life.

-I hired a professional to do my mulch this year. Incredibly glad I did and will budget to continue to do so from now on. Landscaping makes a house look like a home in my opinion. Plus he's a former student. We've come full circle :).

-A guy I dated briefly a few years ago looked me up. Take two is happening this week. We'll see what happens...

-This election year has brought out the worst in people. Ugh. No me gustan los políticos.

-As you know Big Brother is one of my favorite reality TV shows. This season has been sort of a nightmare until Paulie and Zakiyah (aka Zaulie). I LOVE them for many reasons. Now I know this is a showmance, but they are gorgeous together. Paulie has said and done some stupid things in the house, but if Zakiyah can forgive him who are we to judge? I love watching their tribute videos on YouTube and chatting about them online. #BB18

Dating

Last summer I decided to give dating a chance. No idea why. If you have been reading my blog for awhile you know I have terrible taste in men. Terrible.

I don't know why I have always attracted "bad boy" types. I honestly don't know why. Psychologists would probably say I am an enabler. I want to nurture and save these bad guys so I allow them into my life to help them.

I'm also a very forgiving person. I always want to give someone a second chance. That's why I decided to date a man with a troubled past and several felonies on his record. I should have known better.

He was totally upfront about his history. We talked about his arrests and prison (yes PRISON) time at length. He admitted he had made mistakes in the past, but he'd changed. Mostly because of religion.

Everything started out great in the beginning. Most relationships do. Then the tiny red flags started popping up.   I noticed he would disappear for long periods of time without a good explanation. I finally trusted my instincts and walked away. I'm so glad I did. I guess after dating for over 20 years, I learned when to say when.

I haven't dated anyone since last summer even though I trust myself to make better decisions. The right man will come along one day. Until then I'm okay being by myself.

Estoy soltera y feliz,
Monica

Panic

*Christmas is in a few weeks and I'm not even close to being ready. I finally came up with the dinner menu today thanks to All Recipes.

*I am making an early resolution, I will be spending a lot less time on social media. I'm not deleting any accounts at this time. There are many people I would like to stay in contact with, I just hate all the racist idiots taking over. It's tough to keep up with world events without coming across complete nonsense.

*Soaps used to be such a fun and relaxing way to spend a few moments at the end of the day. Not anymore. The writers have such low opinions of the viewers it's insulting to watch. I think I'm going to back to telenovelas.

*I'm watching companies and entertainers closely. Who ever is remaining quiet during this time of unrest will not get any support from me. #blacklivesmatter

*Right now I'm not Interested in dating. I have to get healthy. My number one priority is surviving. Plus I feel like I look a mess. I'm super pale and blotchy. My Lupus-like rash is back with a vengeance. I don't even feel sexy.

*Mi amiga is looking at dresses from one of my favorite designers!! She is going to be a beautiful bride.

*I hope all of you are getting ready for the holidays and are healthy and happy. Please sprinkle a little extra joy my way.

xxoo,
Monica

Ay Mami...

I've been in love with exactly three men. All of them have "Mother" issues. Intrigued? Read on!

Let's begin with R, my first love. I've known him since we were in middle school. I had the biggest crush on him and he never paid any attention to me. He actually never paid any attention to anyone. R was super shy, even though he was muy guapo. When we moved on to high school, he made the football team and his confidence started to grow. R found his voice and started to make friends. Long story short, we became novios. I found out why he was so quiet, he was the youngest in a large family and never got any attention. His mother was a nurse and she worked long hours taking care of elderly patients in a nursing home. R loved his Mom so much, but never saw her. He always felt neglected and unloved. He bounced from girl to girl looking for the female attention he didn't receive at home.We broke up over this. R is married and still putting himself "out" there.

My heart healed and I fell in love a second time. I met S in college, the second week of my freshman year! I was so excited to finally turn 18 years old and be allowed to go to a fraternity party. My friends and I were muy borrachas so we were going house to house looking for more alcohol. I saw S sitting on the floor all by himself at the last house. I thought he looked sad, so I sat down next to him to cheer him up (I'm a magnet for a sad guy). Fast forward we dated for four years, and he's the father of mi hija. His mother spoiled him rotten. Whatever S wanted/wants she provided/provides for him. He had no idea how to do anything for himself then and he still doesn't now.

The third time is the charm right? I put another Hello Kitty bandaid on my battered and bruised heart and fell in love again. I married N. Our history goes back a long time, just like his issues with his mother. I should have known when he told me he would trade his mother in for a watch, that we would have a rough marriage. A man that HATES his mother will struggle in any type of relationship with a woman. She's kicked him out of the house, treated him like a stranger, abused him, and played mind games with N his entire life. I don't blame him for disliking her. She is partly to blame for turning him into the person he is today.

Thoughts??
