English Roses

Photography by Ksenia.

I can't wait to visit Great Britain. The flowers, the rich history, and a chance to see another part of the world...

Today is my birthday. There is a staff meeting after school. Not looking forward to spending more time with people I don't care for. This has been an awful school year already! I had hoped things would be different, even better. I actually cried on open day. No me gusta nada. Los personajes de mi escuela son enojados  Necesito una vacacion. Not just a few days out west. A real one week vacation!!

I have five years left. I can do five years. If I seem sad, please send peaceful thoughts, prayers and healthy energy. I am blessed to be employed. I would like a room and to actually TEACH. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Happy Birthday to me 🎂.

Blush

Blush colored roses are one of my favorite birthday gifts.

As I get older, I am grateful for the little things in life. A phone call or text message from family and friends mean a lot.

This year I think I will treat myself to a much needed massage.

Happy Birthday to all the September babies. We are all awesome. Felicidades a todos.

Besos y abrazos,
Monica

#WeddingWednesday - Florals

Flowers are one of the most important decorative elements to consider when planning your wedding.

*If you want to save money, use local and in season floral arrangements.

*If you have allergies, consider paper or silk flowers. Many brides even have jeweled bouquets.

Peonies are my favorite wedding flowers. I even grow two types in my garden! The bouquet below (from Twitter) is a combination of many different flowers blended beautifully.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I would be happy to create a flower arrangement to compliment your wedding ceremony and reception.

Sincerely,
Monica

Too Hot!

⚫Hot weather and I have never been friends. I want to live in a place that never has temperatures over 75° F. I do like sunshine and vacations/holidays, but swollen ankles and sweaty hair are an ongoing frustration.

⚫My goal is to redo my kitchen. I have an idea board on Pinterest. I can't wait for the day I walk into my kitchen and smile. It's going to take a long time because lately I haven't had the strength to do laundry. A kitchen renovation is a fantasy y muy caro .

⚫We have a new principal for the 2018-19 school year. I am hoping and praying the school climate will change. Moral is incredibly low. I get sad just thinking about school. I am grateful to have a job, I would just like a room and to teach real classes again. I have seniority, but in our district that means nothing. God knows. He sees all. He has seen how I have been treated. Only 5 years left and I will be able to retire!!

Monica

Travel

I would like to travel this summer. I have so much to do with my house (repairs, painting, deep cleaning, etc.), but relaxing on a beach is just what I need. My health has been up and down the entire school year.

The beginning of the year was fabulous. I hadn't felt that good in years. It didn't last for long, but I was able to successfully finish 10 hours of graduate school credits. I even went to an amazing wedding in Florida. I had the time of my life!!

I will definitely return to Florida, Lord willing, but I would also like to see Colorado again, maybe even visit mi familia in Los Angeles. I must be healthy to accomplish all this. Going to do everything in my power to do so.

January, February, and March have been a challenge. April started off rocky, but my doctor has a plan. Praying it works. Life is short. I want to enjoy it while I still can!

Take care,
Monica

Fresh Flowers

Years ago I made sure to have fresh flowers in my home at least once a week. Unfortunately that ended, but happy to say this uplifting tradition is back and even better (es mejor).

A wonderful store opened up not too far away. 365 Whole Foods. Amazing organic, nonGMO, healthy food at a reasonable price. It has become my favorite place to shop. The best part... #fairtrade flower bouquets for $5.00. 🌼 Mi hija says it looks like a flower shop in the living room lol.

A burst of joy for $5.00, por favor!!!

Los flores son muy bonitos,
Monica

The Jersey Shore Family Vacation

(Photo via The Jersey Shore IG)

I was a HUGE fan of the reality tv show "The Jersey Shore". My Thursdays turned into Jerzdays for six seasons. I was hooked.

All good things must come to an end. I thought the series should have ended in Italy, but the producers decided to squeeze one more sad season on the boardwalk.

All but one original cast member, Sammi Sweetheart declined. She says she is in a healthy relationship and didn't want Ron drama ruining it. Good call Sammi. Ron has a baby on the way, but he's acting like single Ron, and talking A LOT about Sammi. Hmm...

Nicole and Jenn are married with children. Deena is married and Vinnie and Mike both have serious girlfriends. Pauly is the only single cast member.

No spoilers, but even though years have passed, everyone is pretty much the same, except for one MAJOR change. PLASTIC SURGERY. I was distracted during the entire premiere looking at Nicole's terrible lip injections. Everyone has had way too much botox. It's sad. There comes a time when you have to look in the mirror and know you have gone from naturally attractive to some plastic wax person.

I'll still watch, but my hope will be the cast will read the thousands of comments and realize enough is enough!!

Looking forward to Jerzdays,
Monica

All You Have is Your Word

It amazes me how many people break promises. The technology at our fingertips allows communication in almost any format nowadays. If you tell someone "I'll get back to you", there is no excuse not to anymore.

It's not just everyday people either. Companies are dropping the ball. I have been trying to purchase a dishwasher for MONTHS. Stores that sell large appliances are completely unreliable. I see why big box stores are closing. It should be so simple to make a purchase and have it delivered and installed within the week. The entire process is way more complicated than it should be...

Frustrated,
Monica

The Works of Reymundo Sanchez

ONCE A KING, ALWAYS A KING

MY BLODDY LIFE

LADY Q

These books are serious Chicago Literature. Read at your own risk. Rey doesn't hold back on the violence of living as a Latin King on the South Side of Chicago.
